Chanel
2017–2019 | Stand and Build
I spent the majority of my time at Stand and Build drawing and coordinating projects commissioned by Chanel. I have grouped several of these projects together in this portfolio because my role and the scope of work is consistent throughout.
The final destination for each project varied between New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, and elsewhere in the USA, but was always situated in a large department store (such as Macy’s Herald Square) or a Chanel boutique. All fixtures were intended to display Chanel fragrances and cosmetics.
In every project, I began by viewing the client’s concept in a 3D model. The first half of my job was to dig into the details of these models and work with builders to determine realistic materials, dimensions, joints, and finishes. I then approved these choices with the client via drawing.
The other half of my job was to do whatever it took to ensure the successful and timely realization of my drawings. This included scheduling deliveries, specifying orders (such as graphics, special lighting, and CNC), executing site surveys, researching new finishing and printing techniques (such as powder coating and UV silkscreening), and providing detailed directions for shippers, installers, and de- installers.
In this way, I helped to usher the following projects all the way from conception to completion.
